5 Ways Young Children Benefit from Drama Classes

It is a magical thing to behold when children feel comfortable to engage with their inherent creativity and work together to tell stories.

It brings Lucy Sparkles teachers so much joy to watch quiet children come alive and make fantastic contributions to drama class as they progress throughout the term. When children turn up to class brimming with energy and ideas, we know we are doing our job.

Here are 5 ways in which young children can benefit from drama classes.

Drama classes help children develop:

1. Confidence

2. Physical awareness and coordination

3. Communication and language skills

Through story-telling, play and pretending, children also:

4.  Are given the opportunity to express themselves creatively in a safe and controlled environment

5.  Develop an understanding of the world around them and the role they play in their local community.

Lucy Sparkles & Friends Drama classes are child-led. Each lesson, children are introduced to a particular theme and are encouraged to come up with and explore ideas surrounding that theme. While each lesson follows a similar structure, it is the children’s imagination and ideas that shape the outcome of each activity.

This term we are holding two drama classes for children aged 4-7 years. The classes are held on Mondays after school in Braddon and Thursday nights in Woden. To view our timetable and to learn about pricing please visit our ‘Find a Class’ page.
